Fudo Aikawa (相川 不動 Aikawa Fudō) is one of the main characters of the series Love After World Domination. He transforms into Red Gelato (レッドジェラート Reddo Jerāto), the leader and strongest member of the hero squad Gelato 5.
Appearance[]
Fudo is a young man with short spiky black hair and black eyes, with a noticeably muscular build due to his constant weight training. Attire wise he heavily favors exercise orient clothes, including a red sleeveless t-shirt, shorts, leggings, and sneakers.
Personality[]
Fudo is a high school student who loves muscle training. In the eyes of his team, he is an honest and dependable leader of the Gelato 5 who has spent his life fighting for peace. However, he is dating Desumi in secret and keeps their relationship hidden from his team, as she is an enemy combatant.
After he met Desumi, he has become more receptive to things that are unrelated to training. Being inexperienced in technology and dating in general, he bought many books in hopes to get better at them. He plans for dates and ensures that Desumi is having fun. He never fails to compliment her, which always makes her blush, stating that he's only telling the truth.
Background[]
He fell in love at first sight with Desumi while fighting her and asked her out under the encouragement of Professor Big Gelato (not knowing who the girl was). Though Desumi was in disbelief at first because of the rumors circulating about her, Fudo revealed that he knew her real side since he was an avid follower of her social media. He then asked again earnestly and Desumi accepted, so the two began dating.
Synopsis[]
Fudo and Desumi attempt to hold hands like a regular couple but can't since Desumi is too shy. However, when they are interrupted by Blue Gelato, they instinctively lock hands as if fighting each other. Fudo realizes it and tells her, causing the two to become happy with their progress.[1]
Due to his increasing popularity with the girls, a sulking Desumi asks him to bring her out on a date. Fudo has trouble planning for it, so a drunk Misaki tells him to just be himself. However, Fudo does things he shouldn't do on a date, including bringing Desumi to the gym and also for a run. When she goes to the restrooms, Fudo receives a call from Misaki telling him to ignore her advice, as there were actually some rules he needed to follow. Fudo becomes very preoccupied when Desumi doesn't return and desperately searches for her to no avail, to the point of crying. But suddenly, Desumi appears and cools off his head by putting a drink on top of him. When he explains that he messed up, Desumi just laughs at him because she enjoys being with him. The two almost kiss, but they are interrupted by their battle alarms, so they leave. At the scene, they both stand in bliss and do nothing.[2]
Abilities[]
High Durability: Befitting his muscular build, Fudo is able to take considerable punishment. He is able to regularly brush off blows from Desumi, who even as a child was strong enough to utterly decimate grown men and now can effortlessly shatter concrete with her bare hands. Similarly he can immediately recover even after being sent through both concrete and metal walls.
Superhuman Strength: He can deliver powerful blows against his foes thanks to his daily training and diet. His limits are currently unknown though it seems to be on a level comparable to Desumi considering he's regularly able to match her physically.
Swordsmanship: Fudo's primary weapon in battle is a sword and he's shown to be sufficiently proficient in wielding it. Whether he's actually had any proper sword training is currently unknown.
Relationships[]
Desumi Magahara[]
Desumi is his girlfriend, but also an enemy commander. Whenever they fight, they secretly signal each other their next moves and pretend, making it appear as if they were actually fighting.
He was disheartened when he wasn't able to give Desumi a normal "couple date" and vowed that he'll do better on subsequent dates. He is also extremely loyal as he resolutely declares that in his lifetime, he'll only ever love and dedicate himself romantically to Desumi, which in turn alleviated her anxiousness and jealousy.
Misaki Jinguji[]
Misaki is like an older sister to him.
Haru Arisugawa[]
Haru is his junior in high school.
Professor Big Gelato[]
Fudo listened to the professor's advice in pursuing his first love. It was thanks to him that Fudo confessed to Desumi.
Etymology[]
- The name Fudo means "immovable, immobility, firmness, fixed, motionless, idle" (不動).
- Fudo's surname Aikawa means "phase, aspect, countenance, mutually, fellow" (相) (ai) and "river, stream" (川) (kawa).
Trivia[]
- Despite his single-minded interest in muscle training, Fudo regularly scores in the top 10 in academics at his school.
- Fudo's father was never introduced in the story, and only had a slight mention in Chapter 9/Episode 5.
